Add PowerPoint, Quicktime, PDF and many more things to your post.
It is possible to attach custom documents or specialized information to a post. To do this you need to use custom fields. These can be found below the standard fields used to write a post in the admin interface. The custom fields have the following functions:
- PowerPoint
This will embed PowerPoint documents in your post. This will only work if your user-level is high enough (5+) to upload files! To find out if this is the case, go to the admin interface and check your user level by clicking on the Users tab in the admin interface.
If you can upload you should see the upload tab. Click on it, browse to your PowerPoint file and upload it. If the file is bigger then the max size specified in the Upload menu, the upload will fail. After your file is uploaded, you will get a confirmation of succes and there will be a link to your file. Copy this link! now, go to the write post menu and choose Powerpoint from the custom fields menu. Paste the link in the value field and click on the “add custom field button”. The PowerPoint will now be embedded in your post when you publish it. Because the files usually are quite big, it could take a while to see your post.
Embeds a PDF document into your post. For embedding these files, use the same technique as described above for PowerPoint.
-
Quicktime
Embeds a Quicktime movie (.mov file) into your post. For embedding these files, use the same technique as described above for PowerPoint.
- Rating
The rating of a document determines how often a document has been read. This custom field will automatically be inserted the first time a post is read. The rating is shown through the colored stars on the top right of a post.
- EventDate
If you categorize a post in the Events category, you’ll want to add a date to it. For sorting purposes it is necessary to supply this date through the EventDate custom field. The date needs to have the following format dd-mm-yyyy (24-07-2005)
- EventAttendee
Nobody likes going to an event alone. Filling out the names of people attending an event will result in those names being shown at the bottom of the post. The names of the attendees should be comma separated (Bas, Mark, Jamy). Only the author of the event will be able to edit this field or the key-user/ administrator of the site.
- isbn/asin
Choose this field to get the cover and customer comments from a book you like straight from Amazon! Just enter the ISBN or ASIN number of the book Add the custom field. Presentation will be like this:
